The first four segments of the Trail, which passes through Giraudel, are now officially open, although we have been seeing pairs and small groups of hikers for some months already. From Belle Vue, you reach the Giraudel 'back road', and a choice of routes - if you turn right you follow the back road, which skirts the village, so if you want to see the village, & maybe get a cold drink or a snack, turn left. You will reach the main road in a few hundred yards. Turn right, and you are heading through the village. There are a few shops & bars, but as yet no public toilet. However, the Flower Group site has one. If the gate (opposite the Credit Union & right behind the Trail notice board)  is open, someone is there, just follow the track to our Visitor Centre, & shout or look around until you get a response. If the gate is closed, a key-holder lives in the apartment below the shop just opposite the gate. You will be asked for a small contribution to Flower Group funds for the facility, but it's a good cause, we are developing the site as an amenity for locals & tourists, & every little helps! If  you have brought food with you, you are welcome to picnic on the site, too. If you are thinking of  staying  overnight here, check our 'Home Stays' - & don't miss the crack at Aymes' bar - 'Hot Blades', in the evening!

The Giraudel/Eggleston Flower Growers Group, Inc. published a book in 2006 detailing the beautiful flowers grown in their villages. From the book's Introduction:
The book provides a photographic guide to over 100 wild and cultivated species of native flowering plants that can be found on the island of Dominica, specifically highlighting species which are common to the villages of Giraudel and Eggleston and the surrounding area of Morne Anglais.

The book is available in the community.
